Native American Heritage Month: William Tincup’s Squaw Play Reading
November 8 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Presenting William Tincup’s Squaw, by Diane Glancy! The play is a story of the Cherokee Removal of 1839. This first Cherokee “Trail of Tears” was a 950 mile-long forced relocation from Georgia through Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas to the new Cherokee Nation located in present-day Oklahoma. We hope that this event will be an opportunity to participate in telling this moving story of the relocation, to commemorate those who underwent the Trail of Tears, and to celebrate the strength and perseverance of their descendants.
The first reading will begin at 2:00 PM on the campus of UA Little Rock, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, Campus Drive, Little Rock.
