Art That Works: Illustration Exhibition

January 17 at 9:00 am - February 18 at 5:00 pm

Represented in this exhibition of Arkansas-based illustrators are: Robert Bean, Nikki Dawes, Sean Fitzgibbon, Dusty Higgins, Layet Johnson, Sally Nixon, Michele Noiset, Kirk Montgomery, David O’Brien, Kasten Searles and Ricky Sikes. Included are five drawings from the UA Little Rock Permanent Art Collection by F.R.Gruger (American, 1871-1953).

Since the Golden Age of Illustration, 1880-1930, the function of illustration along with the art materials used by illustration artists has remained consistent but has also radically changed. In this exhibition are examples of children’s book illustration, comic book illustration and client-based concept drawings for murals, logos and product design – but also graphic novels, D&D character sketches and electronic gaming designs. Traditional art mediums, like graphic and watercolor are represented along with electronic art mediums like Procreate, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Reception: Thursday, January 25, 5:00-7:00pm
