artWORKS Adventures in Papermaking Workshop with David Warren

Workshop: Friday, April 5, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, UA Little Rock Campus Garden

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, David Warren is the Department Chair of Painting and Drawing at the AMFA Windgate Art School. He teaches printmaking for the School of Art and Design at UA Little Rock. David earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. David completed an artist residency in Japan in the spring of 2016. His work has been exhibited in Tokyo, Japan, the Arkansas Arts Center Delta Exhibit, Delta National Small Prints at Arkansas State University, the Arkansas Arts Council Small Works on Paper, and the Rosenzwieg Biennial Exhibit at the Arts and Science Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. David is a founding member of the Arkansas Society of Printmakers and has work included in private and public collections.

Workshop details:

Participants in this workshop session will learn the art of handmade papermaking.  This includes beating recycled cotton paper, forming sheets, and creating “botanical inclusions” using flowers and plants from the UA Litttle Rock Campus Garden.  Participants will learn the art of creating beautiful sheets of recycled paper using homegrown botanical elements.

This lecture and workshop are presented in conjunction with the Art in the Garden series, funded in part by a UALR Sustainability Grant. Additionally, this lecture and workshop are made possible by the generous support of the Windgate Foundation.
