The Leadership Council of the UALR Donaghey College of Engineering & Information Technology assists in fundraising efforts, provides advice and counsel to the dean and serves as a college advocate in the community. The council helps the College to strengthen its learning, research, and outreach programs, improve its facilities, expand its base of support, and serve its alumni. Council members actively participate in the continual assessment of the college’s progress and the development of college/industry partnerships. Specifically, Leadership Council members are asked to:
- Assist in the fundraising efforts of the college. As such, members are expected to contribute an annual gift of $1,000 minimum either through the donor’s business affiliation or as a personal gift. As a donor, you may designate a particular department or program for your gift. It is expected that each member of the advisory council will provide significant financial support to the college during their tenure.
- Provide advice from the perspective of alumni, successful engineering practitioners, industry and business leaders and other external entities regarding the relevance of our programs and the efficiency of our internal operations.
- Provide a connection between our faculty and students and the various industries that the Leadership Council Members represent.
The Leadership Council is composed of a maximum of 36 members. The presence at a meeting of a majority of the members will constitute a quorum. The EIT Dean appoints the members with concurrence from council chair.
As a volunteer, a council member will not receive compensation for travel and lodging expenses to meetings or events. However, some members deduct these expenses as a “gift in kind” contribution of service to the organization, which is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation. It is suggested that council members discuss this service as a contribution with your tax accountant.
