Fostering Academic Excellence
Joseph Giammo’s commitment to excellence in his own teaching and in fostering academic excellence in his students are attributes that bring extremely positive evaluations from his students year after year. Amy Pruitt, a recent graduate whose advisor was Dr. Giammo, describes him as the best professor she had at UA Little Rock: “Not only is he an amazing teacher who can get any student just as excited about the subject at hand as he is, but the amount of time and energy that Dr. Giammo gives to his students in each of his classes is above and beyond.”
An assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, Dr. Giammo places a great emphasis on helping students learn research and maintains high expectations from his students. He is described by his colleagues as a creative, engaging, dynamic, and innovative teacher who gives interesting lectures. He continually seeks to improve his students’ performances and holds multiple small tutoring sessions to that end.
Dr. Giammo, who came to UA Little Rock in fall 2004, received a bachelor’s degree in 1995 and doctorate in 2004 from the Department of Government at the University of Texas. This spring, he is teaching American National Government, Legislative Processes and Behavior, and Presidential Decision Making.
