George W. Donaghey College of Engineering & Information Technology
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Dr. Shucheng Yu is an assistant professor in the UA Little Rock Computer Science Department. His main research areas include data security, privacy in cloud computing, applied cryptography, and wireless network security.
Dr. Yu’s most influential work is titled “Achieving Secure, Stable, and Fine-grained Data Access Control in Cloud Computing” published in the proceedings of the 2010 IEEE Conference on Computer Communications. It represents a milestone in the field of cloud computing security and has has been cited over 1,000 times in the past five years. In the past five years, Dr. Yu and his graduate students have published 37 research articles. His work “SEISA: Secure and Efficient Encrypted Image Search with Access Control” was published in the 2015 IEE Conference on Computer Communications, in which of the 1600 submissions each year only 300 papers are selected.
Dr. Yu has also been awarded six grants as the primary investigator; three of them from the National Science Foundation. The total amount of these grants exceeds one million dollars. With his award, “MRI: Acquisition of a Cloud Computing Infrastructure for Research and Education” funded by the National Science Foundation, he successfully built the first private cloud in the state of Arkansas, located in the Engineering and Information Technology. This cloud has served as a critical platform for researchers as well as others outside the university on various research and education projects.
Dr. Shucheng Yu has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
