Common Data Set (CDS) is a “set of standards and definitions of data items” established by the Common Data Set Initiative, which is “a collaborative effort among data providers in higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson’s, and U.S. News & World Report.” Its goal is to improve the quality and accuracy of data regarding higher education institutions and provide a standardized data set for students.
