Weaving Demo Set Oct. 17 at UALR
UALR’s Art Department will present a weaving demonstration by fiber artist and weaver Edwina Bringle from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the UALR Applied Design Studio in University Plaza.
Bringle, a studio artist in Penland, N.C., will demonstrate the basics of loom weaving as well as material and color selection.
She taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for 24 years. Bringle’s woven textile works are known for their color and design. The demonstration is free.

“Edwina is an extraordinary teacher-clear, precise, calm and patient. When a loom needs fixing or a warp thread breaks, she has a solution,” said Jean McClaughlin, director of Penland School of Craft where Bringle and twin sister Cynthia, a ceramic artist, work and teach. “The Bringle sisters are gifts to Penland School of Crafts and our students and community. They are extremely generous with their time-as volunteers, advisors, mentors, teachers, and friends. They bring a kind of humor, tenacity and grit, wisdom, history, and stability to the life of the school. All that in addition to the beautiful work they produce.”
