Donaghey Scholar Accepted for Hong Kong Program

UALR senior art student and Donaghey Scholar Salathiel Cyrene Quiamco of Little Rock was accepted into the AsiaLearn program at Polytechnic University in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The summer-long AsiaLearn program offers an intensive course in Mandarin language and culture.

She was one of four Arkansas students selected to attend the program.

Quiamco received a scholarship from the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program which offers grants for United States citizens who are undergraduates to pursue academic studies abroad.

Gilman received more than 2,600 applications, but selected only 500 students.

This was the first year the Gilman program opened the summer scholarship to all majors, which typically was offered to only math and science majors.
