Artspree Offers ‘Song and Dance’ Classics
Award-winning cabaret artists Benjamin Sears and Bradford Conner evoke the golden age of Hollywood in their “You Oughta Be in Pictures” cabaret performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building.
Tickets for the Artspree concert series performance are $20 for general admission, $10 for faculty and staff, free for UALR students, and $10 for non-UALR students. To purchase tickets, visit ualr.edu/music.
The song and dance review will feature selections by Irving Berlin and George and Ira Gershwin.
Sears and Conner will present an open master class featuring UALR students and Little Rock area high school students in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The performers have been called “Boston’s favorite song duo” by the Boston Globe, “the delightful cabaret team” by the Boston Phoenix, “Boston’s American songbook impresarios” by Bay Windows, and “a class act of the cabaret world” by the Arlington (Va.) Connection.
Recipients of the Independent Reviewers of New England and Life in Provincetown awards, the pair has performed as a duo since 1989, carrying on the great cabaret tradition of “the song, the singer, and the pianist.”
Sears and Conner are among the few performers of their generation who can claim Irving Berlin and George and Ira Gershwin premieres and are noted recording artists with a significant discography.
