New Perks for UALR Residents
When UALR students move into their rooms starting Friday, Aug. 17, they will notice a number of new options available to them to promote a fun and convenient on-campus experience.
New Additions to Campus
The new Student Services Building which provides a “one-stop” service to students concerning important issues such as admissions and financial aid, records and registration, and counseling and career planning, opened prior to the start of the semester.
The new Trojan Grill will offer an additional late-night dining option for students. In addition to the residence halls and university-owned rental properties, upperclassmen now have the option to reside in the newly acquired University Village, a 420-bed residence complex for juniors, seniors, and graduate students featuring two and four bedroom apartment-style suites with private baths and a resort-style swimming pool.
Located next to University Village is UALR’s new Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex, which features a soccer field and eight-lane track with state-of-the-art Polytan synthetic surfacing and two intramural fields.
The free service of the Trojan Trolley will continue for students this fall. The service was first launched during the spring semester and is a fixed route shuttle service, providing safe, convenient transit within the UALR campus and surrounding community.
Services for Students
Many services for students will open Saturday to make the move-in process easier. Offices in the the new Student Services Building, the UALR Bookstore, Health Services, and Disability Resources Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the Donaghey Student Center, students can get their UALR ID cards made and work out in the DSC Fitness Center which will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (View Donaghey Student Center operating hours)
Dining options available include the new Trojan Grill near West Hall and the Commons Market open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sodexo food service will be serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Diamond Cafe.
Students selected for the Chancellor’s Leadership Corp and scholarship recipients in the Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) will be the first to move in between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday. Move in will continue between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, into East Hall, North Hall, and University Village.
Debbie Gentry, associate dean of students and executive director of UALR’s Office of Housing, said the university has room for 1,380 on-campus residents.
“UALR Housing offers everything from single private rooms to four-room apartments, based on seniority,” she said.

Welcome to Campus Activities
Following the Saturday move-in hours, Sodexo will host a “Break the Ice” reception from 5 to 7 p.m., and Housing will host a block party from 9 p.m. to midnight for all UALR campus residents.
