Prospective Students Explore UALR Oct. 19
On Safari is the theme of the day as prospective high school students from across the state will be on campus to learn more about UALR. At Discover UALR on Oct. 19, they will compete for prizes while they explore everything from housing and scholarship options to academic major options.
The day’s schedule:
9 a.m. – Registration, explore student organizations, resources, and success booths at the Jack Stephens Center
10 a.m. – Welcome from Chancellor Joel E. Anderson, alums Georgia and Dominik Mjartan, and Student Government President Rizan Mohsin. (Jack Stephens Center)
10:45 a.m. – Choose from 11 break-out sessions across campus to find out about degree programs offered in the colleges, admissions, scholarships, and financial aid. Choose four break-out sessions. Rotations begin at 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m.:
- College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Fine Arts Building, Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall
- College of Business, Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development, Atrium
- College of Education, Dickinson Hall, EAST Lab
- College of Engineering and Information Technology, EIT Auditorium
- College of Science, Fribourgh Hall, Room 101
- College of Professional Studies, Donaghey Student Center, Ledbetter C
- Housing Tours (continue until 3 pm.), begin at West Hall
- Admissions and Financial Aid, Donaghey Student Center, Ledbetter A
- Scholarships, Student Services Center, Auditorium
Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trojan Grill if it’s sunny or at the Donaghey Student Center gym if there is rain.
Guided campus tours will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. departing at the Donaghey Student Center upper concourse.
At the end of the day, visitors can drop off their surveys and pick up a T-shirt, absence note, and prizes at the DSC upper concourse.
All day long, visitors can explore Outposts on campus along the way to get directions, ask more questions, or have more fun:

Outpost visits offer an opportunity to win prizes. Visitors are encouraged to stop by as many Safari Outposts as possible and take pictures at each stop. Winners in several categories will receive a prize at the end of the day. To play, visitors must take a photo and either post it to the UALR Office of Recruitment Facebook page or tweet it with the #discoverUALR hashtag. Every Outpost will be able to help with taking photos and posting them.
