Homecoming court and spirit winners to be recognized at March 8 game

The results of last week’s student voting have been tabulated, and five young women have been named to the 2014 UALR Homecoming Court.

The court consists of Quay Allen-Smith, Vivien-Sara Fechner, Sharhonda Kelly, Gabrielle Phifer, and Tuesday Williams.2014 UALR Homecoming - show your Trojan pride

Students are encouraged to come out to see who will be crowned homecoming queen during halftime at the Trojan men’s basketball game on Saturday, March 8, in the UALR Jack Stephens Center. Tip off is at 7 p.m.

The UALR Trojan men’s basketball team scored its second victory in eight days after upsetting Arkansas State University on March 1 with a score of 74-67. March 8 marks the final game of the basketball season, and students always get in free.

Also during the homecoming game, one student organization will receive outstanding spirit recognition based on participation and level of school pride exhibited at homecoming week events. The winning organization will receive the Homecoming Spirit Cup and $300.

Annual_CardboardBoat_logo-204x204In order to qualify for this award, organizations must have participated in several homecoming week events such as the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at the Donaghey Student Center Aquatic Center at noon Friday, March 7, as well as the women’s basketball game at 4:30 p.m. and the men’s basketball game on March 8.

In addition to the title of “Most Spirited Organization,” one fan, who must be a UALR student, will be recognized for his or her Trojan pride by judges during the men’s game. The “Most Spirited Fan” will also be recognized with a trophy and $300.
