Turney to sign copies of latest book on marriage March 20
Howard Turney, director of the School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will sign copies of his latest book on marriage from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at WordsWorth Books & Co. in Little Rock.
Turney’s book, “Everybody Has A Story: A Practical Approach to Marriage,” challenges the reader to develop alternative self narratives that are more aligned with who the they truly are.
According to Turney, these narratives give individuals the chance to “create” their own stories the way they want them to read, which leads to more satisfying relationships as they address the trials that occur in marriages over time.
The publishers note that the book “will open your eyes to the stories that have shaped your most intimate relationship and teach you new ways to think about long-term commitment.”
The simple suggestions outlined in the book stem from Turney’s 25 years of experience working with couples and witnessing their variety of marital dilemmas. He has also presented topics related to marriage to numerous audiences.
He holds membership in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, the Society for the Advancement of Social Work Research, and the Council on Social Work Education.
Turney earned his master’s degree in social work from UALR and his doctorate from Florida State University.
