Songwriter’s Showcase to feature David Barrett
David Barrett will be the guest performer during the Songwriter’s Showcase, an event that will feature student composers and songwriters, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, in Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at UALR.
UALR’s Department of Music and Office of Campus Life are hosting the event.
The showcase is free to the public. Parking will be available in Lot 8 by entering the driveway to the Fine Arts Building off Campus Drive via 28th Street. (See campus map)

Barrett’s music has reached millions. He is the composer of the highly acclaimed, “One Shining Moment,” the theme song for the NCAA Basketball Championships. He has also lent his musical talents for other sporting events including the Olympics, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship.
Barrett recently won a silver medal at the New York Film festival for the hip-hop song “Don’t Cross that Line” and an Emmy for his score of a PBS documentary about writer C.S. Lewis.
He will sing some of his original works during the annual showcase.
