A member of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock family soon will take her place in the Arkansas Women’s Hall of Fame.

Dr. Mary L. Good, founding dean of the UALR George W. Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology (EIT), is one of 12 inaugural inductees who will be honored in a ceremony set for Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.

The event begins with a reception from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a dinner and program from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available online.

Good now serves as a special advisor to the chancellor for economic development and previously served four years as the under secretary for technology in the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Her profile calls the EIT college she helped create, “ … the linchpin for the workforce required for economic development in Central Arkansas.”

Since its inception, UALR’s College of Engineering and Information Technology has continued to grow.

It offers an array of programs ranging from associate, bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. programs, as well as graduate certificates in fields such as Computer Science, Construction Management and Civil and Construction Engineering, Earth Science, Engineering Technology, Information Science, and Systems Engineering.

Good joins notable company including Alice Walton, founder of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and youngest child of Walmart founder Sam Walton; the late Daisy Bates, an author and civil rights activist who played a critical role in ending segregation; and former First Lady and current Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

A partnership between Arkansas Business and the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce led to the creation of the hall of fame with a goal of honoring “… in perpetuity, women whose contributions have influenced the direction of Arkansas in their community or the state.”
