UALR family invited to ‘Home Sweet Homecoming’

There’s a twist to this year’s University of Arkansas at Little Rock homecoming: The university will host the annual celebration in November.

As part of the festivities, previously held during the winter, the UALR community, alumni, and friends of the university are invited to cheer on the Trojans for the Home Sweet Homecoming opening game of the men’s basketball season on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The fun begins at 11 a.m. with the Trojan Alley Tailgate in the Jack Stephens Center parking lot, followed by the game against Central Baptist in the Jack Stephens Center. The tailgate will feature ten food trucks, with free food for students, inflatables and face-painting for children, and lots of tents with giveaways and activities. A new homecoming queen will be crowned during halftime, and student organizations will receive awards.

Students need to pick up their ticket for the free food by visiting the Chancellor’s tent in Trojan Alley.

Voting for homecoming queen and Student Government Association elections were held Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 4-5, in the Donaghey Student Center’s foyer.

One of the homecoming favorites, the cardboard boat regatta, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the Donaghey Student Center’s aquatics center. Awards will be given to the most creative boat design and best dressed team as well as for team spirit and most spectacular sinking. A record number of boats, 25, will be competing.

After the boat races, a pep rally will be held at 6 p.m. in the Jack Stephens Center’s main entrance.
