Institute on Race and Ethnicity to host screening of “Tested”

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Joel E. Anderson Institute on Race and Ethnicity, in partnership with the Historic Arkansas Museum, will host a screening of the documentary “Tested” and a question-and-answer session with the film’s director on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Historic Arkansas Museum.

The documentary follows a dozen racially and socioeconomically diverse eighth-graders as they try to ace a standardized test and compete for a spot in one of New York City’s most elite public high schools. The film explores access to high-quality public education, affirmative action, and the model-minority myth.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m.

Writer/Producer/Director Curtis Chin, a visiting scholar at New York University, will answer questions from the audience following the film.
