Arkansas Heart Hospital cardiologist to speak on women and heart disease
Instead of spending Valentine’s Day focused on love and romance, a cardiologist from Arkansas Heart Hospital will be on hand to teach women how to get heart healthy.
Monica Lo will discuss women and heart disease, including symptom recognition, risk factor awareness, and lifestyle modification plans, during a Lunch and Learn event on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Student Government Association Leadership Lounge on the second floor of the Donaghey Student Center.
The free event, which was open to 25 University of Arkansas at Little Rock faculty and staff, filled up within two hours of its announcement.
Lo graduated with honors from Rice University. She then received her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She stayed at UT Southwestern to complete her internal medicine residency and fellowships in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Lo was awarded the American Heart Association Women in Cardiology Trainee Award for Excellence. She specializes in the electrical conduction of the heart and treats patients with a variety of heart rhythm disturbances.
Additionally, Lo is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society and has given several talks at the national meetings. She is a peer reviewer for scientific journals, including American Journal of Cardiology and Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology.
