Slayden named interim vice provost for Student Affairs
A former University of Arkansas at Little Rock leader has returned to the university to serve as the interim vice provost for Student Affairs and dean of students.
Preston Slayden, who retired from UA Little Rock in 2011 after 34 years of service, will serve in the interim position until June 30. His duties will include oversight of campus life, residential life, student wellness, and student services.
His appointment follows the departure of Brad Patterson, who served UA Little Rock in several capacities and has been a champion of data-driven student success initiatives to help increase retention and graduation.
Slayden came to UA Little Rock in 1977 after eight years in the public school system. He began his time on campus as a student counselor and advanced to become division chief of student development and dean of students.
