Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center to host Lean Canvas Workshop

Martial Trigeaud

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will host the workshop, “Creating a Lean Canvas,” Tuesday, April 18 at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Participants will learn how to use a Lean Canvas to define, structure, and develop a new technology, service, or business idea.

The canvas is a chart with blocks for business owners and entrepreneurs to describe their value proposition, customer segments, competitive advantages, and other key aspects of their venture. The tool can help companies, especially startups, crystallize their target customer and market.

“It is a living document with components that can be readily modified as the business owner gathers more information about customers, key resources, channels, and partners,” said Martial Trigeaud, a business consultant at the center who will lead the workshop.

The Lean Canvas produces an “actionable and entrepreneur-focused business plan,” he said. “A Lean Canvas is a template for developing a business model that allows a company to effectively project revenue and profit.”

The workshop will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the UA Little Rock Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development. Pre-registration is required and is available online (tinyurl.com/hu6aenb) or by calling 501.683.7700.

The event, offered at no charge, is made possible through Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Additional workshops will be held in Jonesboro, Hot Springs, and Fort Smith.
