UA Little Rock marketing professor honored for teaching excellence
Dr. Gary Geissler, a professor in the Department of Marketing and Advertising in UA Little Rock’s College of Business, received the Marketing Management Association’s 2017 Teaching Excellence Award.
The award was presented at the association’s fall conference in Pittsburgh, Pa., where outstanding marketing educators were recognized for their teaching and innovative approaches to the classroom.
Marketing educators from around the world submitted written applications for the competition early in the summer of 2017. The applications summarized each educator’s innovative and impactful teaching practices.
Geissler was one of three finalists invited to present his innovative teaching practices and impact on students at the annual conference. He received top honors and was recognized for his mastery of teaching, receiving a cash prize and a Teaching Excellence Award plaque.
Geissler, who has taught at UA Little Rock for 16 years, currently teaches Principles of Marketing, Principles of Advertising, Advertising: Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Management, and Brand and Market Consulting.
He has twice received UA Little Rock’s University Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has coached and mentored three different teams of students in the past few years who have won national marketing competitions.
The Marketing Management Association is an academic association with a membership of collegiate marketing educators from around the world. The MMA publishes two peer-reviewed marketing journals, runs two professional conferences each year, and has a history of showcasing cutting-edge marketing thought.
