UA Little Rock to host 6th annual Hoops for Kids Sake

Jack Stephens Center

The Arkansas House and the Arkansas Senate will battle it out – not in the legislative chambers – but on the basketball court at the Jack Stephens Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

UA Little Rock will host the sixth annual Hoops for Kids Sake at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, Boys & Girls Club of Bryant, and Boys & Girls Club of Saline County.

Celebrity players, coaches, and special guests will be on hand for the bipartisan exhibition game, which has raised more than $150,000 since its inception in 2013.

“The opportunity to support these kids is something that always gets the Senate players excited to play hard,” Senate President Pro Tempore Jonathan Dismang said. “And as defending champs for the second straight year, we have an additional incentive as we fight to even up the series and keep the trophy on the south side of the Capitol.”

Although the Arkansas Senate brings a two-game winning streak into this year’s game, the Arkansas House has a 3-2 lead in the overall series.

“As the previous three-time champions of Hoops for Kids Sake, we are looking forward to bringing back the trophy to the House,” Speaker of the House Jeremy Gillam said. “But as much as we have enjoyed beating the Senate over the years, we know the biggest victory is raising money for these organizations that do so much for our youth.”

General admission tickets are $10 and will be available at the Jack Stephens Center one hour before the game begins. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Sponsorships are available for $1,000.
