UA Little Rock Percussion Ensemble to host Nov. 12 concert
The UA Little Rock Percussion Ensemble will present a dynamic concert including historical, contemporary, and traditional percussion music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The concert, free and open to the public, will be held in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. This is the ensemble’s first performance with Dr. Justine Bunting, UA Little Rock’s new director of percussion studies.
The performance will include “Pieces of Wood” by Steve Reich; “Memory” by Evan Chapman; and “Charleston Capers” by George Hamilton Green featuring Bunting on xylophone. The concert will also feature an arrangement of the traditional West African rhythm Djole, a mask dance from the Temine people in Sierra Leone, and a live improvisation by the Percussion Ensemble.
