Law school names diversity initiatives advocate

Assistant Dean Rejena S. Grotjohn

The UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law has selected Assistant Dean Rejena Grotjohn to lead its diversity initiatives.

This is part of the law school’s Racial Justice and Equity Action Plan. The plan includes evaluating current programming and curriculum, developing additional initiatives to create a diverse and inclusive environment, and supporting students throughout their law school education.

“In her role as assistant dean of student affairs, Dean Grotjohn has been a passionate advocate for Bowen’s students and their legal education,” said Terri Beiner, Bowen’s dean. “She is well-suited for this role, and I am pleased she has accepted the responsibility.”

Grotjohn joined Bowen’s staff in 2014 as director of bar success services and became the assistant dean of student affairs in 2016. Her office supports the academic success, professional development, and health and wellness of Bowen’s students. Before coming to Bowen, she began her legal career in private practice and later joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

“Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. Respecting differences and creating a culture of belonging should be a top priority in every legal education program,” said Grotjohn. “I am looking forward to working towards a more inclusive and equitable experience for all Bowen students.”

Dean Grotjohn’s new title is assistant dean for student affairs and diversity initiatives.
