UA Little Rock to hold Six-Week Youth Acting Workshop

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a six-week Youth Acting Workshop this fall.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a six-week Youth Acting Workshop this fall.

The workshop is for students ages 7-12 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from Sept. 18 to Oct. 23 in the University Theatre building at UA Little Rock.

The program is a collaboration between the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance and the Extended Education office at UA Little Rock. Students will learn about acting, theatre-making, and teamwork through weekly workshops led by a theatre instructor and professional actor.

This play-oriented, guided process is designed specifically for pre-teens to develop their acting skills through theatre games, improvisation, and scene development. Students will learn to experience self-expression, practice good listening skills, and learn the value of creative collaboration. The workshop culminates in a final showcase shared with family and friends.

The cost is $275 per student. Students may register by visiting the Extended Education website and clicking on Design, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts classes. For more information, contact Dr. Larry Smith at ldsmith11@ualr.edu or Christine Cotton at cecotton@ualr.edu.
