Bethune to Read from Memoir April 3

Former Congressman Ed Bethune will read from his memoir, “Jackhammered, A Life of Adventure,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building.

The reading will be followed by a book signing. Both events, sponsored by the Alumni Association and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, are free and open to the public.

Bethune, a native of Little Rock, served almost 50 years in federal and state government and the law. In addition to his congressional career, he served as a special agent of the FBI and a prosecuting attorney.

Published last fall, his memoir is described as, “a story of hope and redemption, told with candor by a man who had a complicated childhood during World War II, joined the Marines when he was 18, became a special agent of the FBI, and then a prosecuting attorney.”
