UA Little Rock Facilities Management receives $50,000 gift
Little Rock engineering company Bernhard TME has announced a $50,000 gift to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Facilities Management Event Fund, which provides scholarships to facilities management employees.
Steven Ward, representing the principals of Bernard TME, presented a $50,000 check to Dave Millay, associate vice chancellor of facilities management, and Bob Adams, founders of the program, on Sept. 18 during UA Little Rock’s GolfFest, hosted by Chenal Country Club.
Now in its seventh year, the event raises money to benefit facilities management employees with a special emphasis on providing scholarships.
In the past six years, the fund has awarded 210 scholarships totaling $166,000. Fifteen scholarship recipients have completed degrees. The scholarship is awarded each semester to qualifying students.
Employees of Facilities Management include all maintenance staff, custodians, groundskeepers, painters, carpenters, electricians, mechanics, and plumbers.
The scholarship covers tuition and fee expenses not covered by the staff discount as well as books and caps and gowns for graduates.
“This wonderful gift will help assure that our employees will be able to continue to receive the many motivational and educational benefits made possible by this program,” said Steve McClellan, vice chancellor for finance and administration.
