UALR Hosts 2nd Congressional District Art Competition
UALR will host the 2nd Congressional District High School Art Competition May 13 through June 4. Rep. Vic Snyder (D-Ark.) will announce the winner at a reception at 5:30 p.m. May 14 in the UALR Galleries located at the Fine Arts Building.
Each year, the U.S. Congress sponsors the Congressional Art Competition. Students compete in a regional contest, and the overall winning piece of art from each congressional district is displayed in a national exhibit located along a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol Building.
High school students who live in the district are eligible for the competition. UALR’s Department of Art will administer and judge the competition.
The winner will receive free airline travel to attend a June 17 reception in Washington, D.C., as well as a complimentary custom framing from a local professional.
Entries not chosen as the winner will be featured in a monthly exhibit at UALR’s Gallery III on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building from May 13 through June 4.
