In celebration of Earth Day, contestants soon will show off their skills by designing outfits made entirely out of newspaper and duct tape.
The Earth Day Fashion Show will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Donaghey Student Center Upper Concourse. Any University of Arkansas at Little Rock student organization may participate. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Friday, April 15.
In addition, UALR will host a farmer’s market with community vendors, service organizations, and recycling from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 22, in Ottenheimer Plaza.

More than 200 University of Arkansas at Little Rock employees stepped up to accept a new challenge to promote employee fitness on campus.
The “Step It Up Challenge” kicked off April 4 in front of Student Services Center, as a large crowd gathered to hear Chancellor Joel Anderson greet the participants.

Five scholarships are available for University of Arkansas at Little Rock students interested in interning in Washington, D.C. this summer through the Washington Center.
An information session will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in Stabler Hall 502.
Interested students should contact Dr. Elisabeth Sherwin, a professor of psychology who is the university liaison for the Washington Center, by April 9.

A team of UALR civil and construction engineering students won the mystery challenge competition at the American Society of Civil Engineers Deep South Student Conference March 10-12 at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Norbert Rungano, Chloe Jerry, Heather Hightower, and Ross Phillips were designated for the mystery challenge without prior knowledge of what would be expected of them.

Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin will speak about his journey from law school to a high-ranking elected official of Arkansas during a visit to the William H. Bowen School of Law Tuesday, April 12.
His talk from noon to 1 p.m. at Bowen Law School Room 323 will include his time as a law student at Tulane University, his career in appointed and elected political positions, as well as his time serving in military Judge Advocate General positions.
