Bowen to host U.S. Supreme Court Panel

The UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law plans will hold a virtual panel discussing the U.S. Supreme Court’s June decision in Bostock v. Clayton County. 

In Bostock v. Clayton County, the Supreme Court explained that the language of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits sex discrimination, applies to discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. It is the first decision on LGBTQ rights since the landmark Obergefell ruling in 2015 that made same-sex marriage legal.

This panel will include four speakers: Theresa Beiner, dean of UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, John DiPippa, dean emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy, Eric Reece, interim state director of Human Rights Campaign Arkansas, and Dr. Jay Barth, M.E. and Ima Graves Peace Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Politics at Hendrix College.
