Open Education for Student Success Mini Professional Development series is a collaboration between STaR, Ottenheimer Library, Center for Arkansas History and Culture (CAHC), and ATLE to cover open education topics focused on content discovery, integration, and engagement in 15 minute videos (or less). Videos will remain on-demand, making it easy for you to engage where and when it’s convenient. You will also have access to the supplemental materials, such as handouts and transcripts. The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) uses reflection and evidence-based methods to research effective teaching and student learning. Tensions arise when the methods of inquiry to investigate teaching and learning are inconsistent with disciplinary methods of inquiry. For example, STEM disciplines often rely on appropriate metrics with calibrated instruments to measure them and emphasize closely controlled experiments to isolate causal variables; all within well-defined systems.
