Dr. Amar Kanekar is a physician by training, completing his bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery from Mumbai University, India, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine. He earned his master’s in Public Health Education at Western Kentucky University, and his doctorate of philosophy (PhD) in Health Education and Promotion with a cognate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is currently a Professor and Graduate coordinator of Health Education/Promotion. His fourteen years of work experience in higher education include teaching more than 30 courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Health Education and Public Health. Some of the interesting ones have been Controversial Issues in Health Education, Organization and Administration in Health Education and Evaluation of Health Programs. His research interests involve obesity prevention, global health, measurement, online and hybrid pedagogy, and quantitative methods.
Dr. Kanekar enjoys walking, listening to music, and playing chess and ping pong. He has a son in middle school.
