Registering for Classes

New students will have several holds preventing class registration. You must satisfy each requirement before registering for class. Since some of the requirements may only be fulfilled in person, new international students will register for class only after arriving to the United States and attending orientation.

Common holds include:

Immigration Reporting

During the mandatory international student orientation prior to the start of each semester, all new F-1 and J-1 international students and visiting scholars are will report to International Student Services. After attending orientation and completing the Immigration Reporting requirements, the International Reporting hold will be removed from the student’s record.

To fulfill  your reporting requirement:

  1. Bring your passport and I-20 or DS-2019 to checkin at orientation
  2. Attend the mandatory sessions at orientation
  3. Update your personal information in BOSS including your physical US address, active phone number, and emergency contact

Health Screening

Prior to registration, all international students must be screened for tuberculosis (TB) in the United States and present record of 2 doses of MMR. The screening for TB can be done at Student Health Services, located in the DSC room 102, or through a primary care provider. Additionally, record of 2 MMR vaccinations should be provided in English, prior to registering for classes. The UA Little Rock Student Center administers these vaccinations at the university for a fee.

Advising for Classes

Every student must be advised before registering for classes. Undergraduate students will visit the Advising Center to visit with an Academic Advisor to help put your degree into perspective.  Undergraduate transfer students who have been accepted to major field of study will be advised by their department.

Graduate Students will contact their Program Coordinator for advice on where to begin their program of study. Find your academic program to coordinate your advising session.

Registering for Classes

After you have fulfilled your pre-registration holds, you may login to BOSS and register for courses using your T-number and PIN. Be sure to check for course prerequisite requirements. After you register, you will pay your tuition and visit the UA Little Rock Bookstore to prepare for a successful first day of class.
