The university and the surrounding community offer an exciting environment for international students to enjoy American culture and share their culture with others. Once a year the campus enlivens with International Celebration Week. Students gather together to enjoy the tastes, sights, sounds, and ideas of the various cultures represented in Little Rock. Throughout the year, international students and community members share a meal and good conversation through IFO’s Conversation Club.
Find a Registered Student Organization (RSO) through UA Little Rock’s Campus Life to meet people with shared interests. Join the International Club and other internationally focus RSOs or find a departmental or interest-based organization to join. Stay active and involved by visiting the UA Little Rock Fitness Center or participate in competitive sports on an intramural team.
Be sure to also explore the surrounding city of Little Rock, which received the No 1 ranking of “America’s 10 Great Place to Live” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance in July 2013. The city of Little Rock is full of opportunities; the area is home to Fortune 500 companies, museums and historical sites, the Clinton Presidential Center, global nonprofits like Heifer International, and the seat of Arkansas Government. Spend the day at the Little Rock Zoo, climbing Pinnacle Mountain, or shopping at the Rivermarket. Community events and festivals enliven the city year round, so visit the Chamber of Commerce to see what’s happening this weekend.
