Dr. Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy

About the CWDSA

The Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy aims to improve educational achievement for those who are at-risk of academic failures due to socioeconomic disadvantage or other factors.

The Pulaski County Special School District has partnered with CWDSA to invest in your success and we hope that you don’t pass up on this life-changing experience. Thanks to a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education, students in the Little Rock and North Little Rock school districts are now eligible for the program as well.

Our goals are to prepare students for success beyond high school, eliminate the need for remediation while increasing not only high school graduation rates, but college graduation rates as well.

High School Students:

  • Be a part of a year-long program that includes a Saturday Academy each month during the fall and spring semesters
  • Get ACT preparation and application assistance
  • Gain help to improve reading, writing, and math skills
  • Learn positive social and professional life skills

Registration is currently closed. Please check back at a later date for next year’s application.

Donaldson Scholars program is a collaborated program between University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Philander Smith College, and Pulaski County Special School District geared towards the success of future college students. CWDSA is a 3-week residential program aimed at eliminating math remediation and improving writing skills. Social events will also be incorporated in the Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy which will help the scholars build everlasting relationships with the peers and the faculty that will be assisting them to their collegiate success.

Dr. Charles W. Donaldson served the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for 40 years and is still looking for different ways to affect the lives of college students. With the Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Program, he is doing just that: serving as a truly inspirational individual whose goal is to affect those around him in a positive way.
