Record crowd enjoys Meet the Trojans event

Fans at the 2015 Meet the Trojans event
More than 700 fans visited the Jack Stephens Center for Meet the Trojans, a night of fun, food, music, and games with the Little Rock student-athletes.

All 14 University of Arkansas at Little Rock athletic programs were represented during the Oct. 15 event.

“On behalf of Trojan Athletics and all of our coaches, staff and student-athletes, we are grateful to all of our supporters that came out for our annual Meet the Trojans event,” Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said.

Head men’s basketball coach Chris Beard and head women’s basketball coach Joe Foley addressed the crowd and spoke about their upcoming seasons. Josh Hagins was the winner of the dunk contest while Alexius Dawn and Kemy Osse teamed to win the 3-point shootout. The Little Rock dance team performed, and the Trojans’ pep band played throughout the night.

“Based on the feedback we received, it appears our fans really enjoyed the new format as it gave everyone an opportunity to meet all of our student-athletes from every sport,” Conque said. “The atmosphere Thursday night was tremendous, and it clearly shows a renewed enthusiasm for Little Rock Trojans athletics. It is a great time to be a Trojan.”

Little Rock men’s basketball opens its season vs. Central Baptist on Nov. 14 at the Jack Stephens Center. The women’s basketball team opens the year at Tulane on Nov. 13 before returning home to host LSU on Nov. 18.
