U.S. Bank will donate $50k to create student success endowment for UALR business students

UA Little Rock College of Business

U.S. Bank has announced a gift of $50,000 to create an endowment for student success initiatives for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business.

The Student Success Endowment will be used to fund student scholarships, internships, study abroad programs, career placement, and competitive support for gifted and talented students.

“I think the most important thing is that the endowment will be used to help students for what their needs are at the time – scholarships or student enrichment,” said Jane Wayland, the Stephen Harrow Smith dean of business.

Wayland said the endowment also provides a sustainable funding source that will help students as their needs change over time.

The College of Business will hold a year-end annual appeal to raise money for the endowment and will contribute all proceeds from the sixth annual College of Business Golf Tournament in 2017.

U.S. Bank is excited to partner with the UALR College of Business to expand student success opportunities, said Mike Richardson, regional president of U.S. Bank.

“Whether it’s through our leadership development program for students just beginning their careers or expanding our employees’ education and skill sets with the MBA program, UALR fits nicely in one of our pillars to make possible happen,” Richardson said.

On Nov. 10, students, faculty, and alumni from the College of Business will meet with Richardson and other U.S. Bank employees to learn about the Student Success Endowment and the career opportunities available in banking at U.S. Bank in North Little Rock.
