The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has been named one of the top 25 schools for affordable online education in the country.

Online education resource website, Guide to Online Schools, highlighted UA Little Rock as 11th on its list of the top 25 best value schools that offer online bachelor’s degrees.

UA Little Rock was noted for having a wide variety of fully online programs in module and webcast format, opportunities to interact with classmates and faculty through video chat, an online and on-campus orientation course to prepare students for online learning, and flat credit rates for online programs.

UA Little Rock Online currently has 45 fully online degree, certificate, and minor programs, with four more pending approval. This has grown from 10 online programs in fall 2015.

David Montague, director of eLearning, said the university has a long history of providing quality alternatives to traditional classroom learning.

“UA Little Rock is one of the original institutions in the state to provide online learning,” Montague said. “The fully online programs at UA Little Rock are the same high-quality education taught by the same high-quality faculty at UA Little Rock. Our online students are just as important as our traditional students.”

UA Little Rock has more than 950 students enrolled in online programs taking over 298 online courses during the fall semester.

UA Little Rock online programs are a reduced tuition rate that comes with full access to the university’s academic resources, including the library and information technology support. Ottenheimer Library hired a full-time librarian that is devoted solely to helping students enrolled in online programs.

In order to be eligible for the list, colleges must offer at least 10 fully online degrees at the bachelor’s level and at least 10 fully online degrees at the master’s level with programs that cover a minimum of 10 subject areas.

Rankings were determined based on tuition rates, program data including available degrees and coursework, and academic strength scores as determined using standardized average SAT and ACT exam scores. Data was collected from official school websites and the National Center for Education Statistics.
