Representatives from The Washington Center will be on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus on Tuesday, Sept. 24, to visit with students about internship opportunities in Washington, D.C.

The Washington Center (TWC) arranges internships appropriate to students’ areas of study with businesses, nonprofits, and governmental agencies in Washington, D.C. The internships are open to all majors. The center has a working relationship with more than 600 businesses, government entities, and nonprofit organizations.

“A college experience is not just about spending semesters learning in the classroom. At The Washington Center, we believe that experience transforms,” said TWC recruiter Rachelle Bernadel. “By spending a spring semester in Washington, D.C., students can gain valuable experience in an internship matched to their interests, network with professionals in their intended field, and live in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world.”

Students can earn six credits for a summer internship or up to 15 credits while completing a fall internship. Financial aid is available, and TWC provides assistance with internship placement, coursework, programming, housing and student services. Students also take part in a semester-long professional development program and learn about topics like entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, and international relations.

The deadline application for spring 2020 is Oct. 9, while the deadline for a summer 2020 internship is March 13. Scholarships for Arkansas state residents and private scholarships are available.

Two information sessions are planned on Sept. 24:

  • 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Donaghey Student Center Meeting Room D
  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. – University Commons, second floor classroom
