The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s premier student recruitment event, Discover UALR, soon will offer prospective students and parents a chance to explore the campus and the university’s academic programs.
Another successful Discover UALR concluded on Oct. 24, providing the opportunity for hundreds of students to preview the university and compete for scholarships. Continue reading “Fall ’14 Discover UALR introduces students to university”
The next Discover UALR day is set for Friday, Oct. 24, providing the perfect opportunity for high school students as well as prospective transfer students and their parents or guardians to preview all that UALR offers and even earn a scholarship in the process.
The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Jack Stephens Center on the UALR campus and concludes around 2 p.m.
Interested students may register at ualr.edu/admissions/discover.
Discover UALR includes campus tours and a chance to speak with representatives across many student services departments and academic disciplines.
High school seniors who complete an application at Discover UALR will have their application fee waived, and a photo contest that could result in as much as a $1,000 scholarship provides an additional incentive for attending.
To be eligible for scholarship consideration, Discover UALR participants are encouraged to snap pictures as they tour campus and post to Instagram using the #discoverUALR hashtag before 2:30 p.m.
A panel will review all submissions, and a winner will be chosen in each of six different categories by 4 p.m. Winners do not have to be present to win.
Last year, several compelling pics turned into university scholarships for the winners, who were chosen from among more than 600 submissions. Visit this link for more information about the photo competition.
UALR’s chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), which has been recognized nationally by the ACS and received numerous commendations, was recently recognized by the Central Arkansas Local Section of the ACS in its September newsletter for “taking initiative in continuing growth and notability around the campus.” Continue reading “American Chemical Society recognizes UALR chapter”
On Friday, Oct. 25, UALR held its fall 2013 open house – Discover UALR Day. My personal opinion is that the day was a success. We had hundreds (around 700 to be exact) of students come tour the campus and learn more about their (hopefully!) future home. Continue reading “Winning at #discoverUALR”
