The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Jazz Ensemble will hold its spring jazz vocalist feature concert April 18.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building on the UA Little Rock campus.

The Jazz Ensemble, led by Dr. Michael Underwood, a principal trombonist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, will perform four songs featuring students from the vocal department.

The concert will include Hannah Blacklaw singing “Witchcraft” by Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh; Brent Foster singing “The Look of Love” by Burt Bacharach; Mya Little singing “Things Are Looking Up” by George Gershwin; and Kyndal Collins singing “Come Rain or Come Shine” by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer.

“We will also feature Charles Mingus’s ‘Goodbye Pork Pie Hat,’ and end the concert with the Tower of Power classic, ‘Soul Vaccination,’ an apt song title for our times!” Underwood said.
