UA Little Rock Downtown, in collaboration with the UA Little Rock Department of History, will host a career and mentorship panel for history students and prospective students on Thursday, April 13.

The free event, “Let’s Talk About the Future: Careers with a History Degree,” will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. at UA Little Rock Downtown, 333 President Clinton Ave.

History students and those who are thinking of pursuing a history degree will have the opportunity to meet with a panel of five professionals who all graduated with a history degree but followed different career paths. The guest mentors include professionals whose experience spans from education and nonprofit organizations to state government, public service, and museums.

The panelists will help students think about the career options that are available to history majors, how to apply and transfer history degree skills to different careers, and what academic and professional experiences to pursue while still in college and shortly after graduation.

“This event is like a casual conversation about professional options and opportunities in a group setting. We hope to help students to think of their history degree in many different lights,” said Dr. Marta Cieslak, director of UA Little Rock Downtown. “The panelists will share their own personal experiences and help students brainstorm what they can do to achieve their future career goals and establish a successful career with a history degree.”
