This policy provides guidance for the refund of tuition and fees as a result of students withdrawing from UA Little Rock or dropping courses at UA Little Rock.
Board Policy 530.1, Refund of Fees, establishes a uniform refund policy for all campuses. The policy was necessary in order for the institutions to calculate refunds to comply with the methodology required by federal student aid regulations. Federal regulations that govern the administration of financial aid for students have been changed to provide higher education institutions with funds based on student attendance. Due to this change in the method of calculating student financial aid refunds, there is no longer a need for a uniform policy for all campuses. Several chancellors have requested that the campuses be permitted to develop individual refund policies. The policy has been reviewed in light of the changes in federal regulations and deemed no longer necessary. Upon motion by Trustee Hunt and second by Trustee Reed, the following resolution was approved:
Be it resolved by the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas that Board Policy 530.1 Refund of Fees shall be, and hereby is, deleted.
Any student who officially withdraws or drops a course from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock shall be entitled to a refund of tuition and fees as follows:
Any student who withdraws or drops a course prior to the first day of class will be refunded at 100%.
Note: Programs that have “Board Approved” special refund policies will supersede this policy.
Students deleted from their courses on the published university delete date(s)/payment due date(s) each semester will be refunded at 100%. If the delete date falls after the 100% refund date for a course, the 100% refund period will be extended through the delete date/payment due date. The 50% refund date will not be extended. Students who withdraw or drop courses through the Office of Records and Registration or online will be refunded according to the chart below.
