Application deadline for the 2023-24 Academic Year: Friday, March 17, 2023, at 5 p.m.
The UA Little Rock Department of World Languages awards the Vance C. Ogden Memorial Scholarship annually to a student seeking a degree in the Department of World Languages to support their continued language studies during the coming academic year.
Note: Donaghey Scholars, Chancellor’s Leadership Scholars, and Entering Freshman Scholarship recipients are not eligible for this award.
Scholarship Requirements
- Be a current full- or part-time UA Little Rock student seeking a degree in the Department of World Languages at the time of application
- Continue language studies in the department during the academic year of the award
- Have a minimum 3.00 GPA
- Submission of the official application form by the application deadline
A complete application includes the official application form and uploading the following documents to the form:
- recommendation letter from a UA Little Rock world languages instructor (uploaded by the applicant to the form or sent by the instructor directly to Tina Tipton at tktipton@ualr.edu)
- a CV or résumé
- an essay (200-250 words) discussing why studying a foreign language is valuable to you, and
- a brief statement (7-8 sentences) explaining how the scholarship will help you financially
