Dr. Tara Martin

Dr. Tara Martin is an assistant professor in the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She joined the faculty in the fall of 2020 after working at the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General in the Crime Victim Services Division as a Statistician. Dr. Martin earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, and she has a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Classical Studies from the College of William & Mary.

Dr. Martin’s primary research interests lie within the fields of victimization and developmental criminology. Her victimization research examines the reporting and measurement of intimate partner violence as well as the policies impacting it. Her developmental criminology research involves understanding how community context affects child development and crime. Her research has been published in scholarly journals, including Justice Quarterly, Criminal Justice Policy Review, and the Journal of Experimental Criminology.
