Trans Awareness Week

We would like to acknowledge the unique diversity within our UA Little Rock community and affirm our commitment to fostering a campus environment where all individuals, regardless of their gender identity, feel they belong. Trans Awareness week is a reminder of the current challenges transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals face.

November 20th is recognized as  the national day of remembrance for the lives lost due to anti-trans gender violence. Let’s use it as a time to recognize, honor, and take action to support members of the trans community.

Additionally, this week is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on how we can use our roles as allies, advocates, and educators to play a meaningful and impactful part in the lives of our trans faculty, staff, and students.

Trans awareness week is ultimately about our collective responsibility to each other and seeing the humanity that exists in us all. As a community, let’s continue to look for ways to dismantle barriers and create a more inclusive and affirming campus as we support greater trans equity, which means folks are free to live and work in a place where they can thrive and express their authentic selves.
