Increasing the Rigor: Teaching with Complex Texts During Small Group Instruction
As teachers of reading, we must allow, encourage and afford students with opportunities to read and learn from a variety of text levels (instructional and grade level). This literacy challenge can only be achieved if teachers understand scaffolding and the prominence to include more rereading, writing and talking about complex texts. In this session, the presenter will focus on the function of scaffolding as students read and comprehend texts that may appear too challenging.
