UA Little Rock Certification Process

General Instructions

If you plan on using your VA educational benefits at UA Little Rock, please ensure you have submitted all required documentation to the UA Little Rock Office of Military Student Success.

Remember, certification is done each and every semester after you register for classes and then again any time you change the number of hours you are taking.


Process

☐ Provide Proof of Military Educational Benefits Eligibility
  • Email (military@ualr.edu), Fax (501.683.7055), or Deliver in person (Speech Building, Room 111) your documentation to the UA Little Rock Office of Military Student Success.
    • The type of documention is dependent upon what VA Chapter you are under. Examples include the following:
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for most VA Educational Benefits
      • VA form 1905 for Chapter 31 (Have your VA Vocational Rehab counselor send the VA form 28-1905 by email (military@ualr.edu) or by fax (501.683.7055)
      • DD Form 2384-1 NOBE for Select Reserve
☐ Get Advised
  • New freshmen are advised in one of two offices and continue to be advised in these offices until they earn approximately 45 credit hours. Then, they are advised in their program department.
  • Freshmen with majors in Nursing; Communication Sciences and Disorders; Middle Childhood Education; Elementary Education; Special Education; K-12 Health and Physical Education; Social Work; and Interpretation: ASL/English are advised in the
    Advising and Support Center of the College of Education and Health Professions.
  • Freshmen in all other majors and undecided students are advised in the Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising.
☐ Register for Classes
☐ Submit the Online VA Certification Request Form (CRF).
  • The CRF authorizes the UA Little Rock Office of Military Student Success to certify your UA Little Rock registration to the Veterans Regional Office.
  • Resubmit a CRF if you change the total number of credit hours on your schedule after submitting your initial CRF form.
☐ Email Advising Form or Degree Plan
  • A signed copy of your advising form or a degree plan confirms that the courses you are enrolled in meet your degree requirements.
  • You may wish to have your advisor additional courses in case a class is closed or cancelled.
  • If you change your schedule after submitting your advising form, please contact your advisor to submit an updated advising form.
  • Once you submit a degree plan, you will not have to submit another advising form or degree plan unless you change your major.

You will receive an email from VA Once when we have certified your enrollment hours and again when we submit tuition and fees. (Tuition and fees are typically only submitted for Chapter 33, post 9/11 recipients.)
