Fifteen years after she graduated from high school in Fordyce, Waynette Lochridge Franklin nervously took the Compass Test to enter a two-year college program.
“When I started college all I wanted to do was pass and not embarrass myself,” the UALR junior said. “I had been out of high school for 15 years, and I lacked confidence in my abilities. What I found is not only did I pass, I excelled.”

Students interested in applying for UALR’s top honors program, the Donaghey Scholars Program, are invited to Sampler Day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Legends Room of the Jack Stephens Center. The program includes a scholarship package totaling between $60,000 and $80,000 as well as a chance to study abroad.
UALR will welcome hundreds of high school juniors and seniors as well as their parents Friday, Oct. 19, for a day of exploring UALR’s programs, facilities, and campus life.

Hundreds of high school juniors, seniors, and their parents will be on the UALR campus Friday, Oct. 19, for the university’s fall open house, Discover UALR.
UALR’s marketing campaign for 2012-13 will launch next week with new storytelling about UALR graduates and their careers. The multi-media campaign, UALR Grads @ Work, will include television, newspaper, magazine, radio, outdoor billboards, and digital advertising.
A group of Arkansas high school students selected for their grades, aptitude, and teacher recommendations checked into a UALR residence hall Sunday, June 17, to spend a week exploring the life of an engineering undergraduate.

UALR’s College of Science and Mathematics will host three regional science fairs Friday March 2, offering competition for both middle and high school students at the Central Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair, the Junior Academy of Science Central Arkansas Regional Fair, and the American Chemical Society Chemistry Olympiad.
